On a summer evening in Atkins, Arkansas, the Pope County 911 Dispatch Center received a distressing call reporting an altercation and a shooting at a residence on State Highway 247. It was approximately 7:27 p.m. on July 2, 2016, when deputies from the Pope County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Larry Don DuVall, a male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at his home.
