On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, a violent incident unfolded at a residence situated south of Atkins, Arkansas, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a shooting at the location, leading deputies from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Randy Joe Ruddell, a 64-year-old male, suffering from fatal injuries sustained during the altercation.
Despite the presence of emergency responders, the victim succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased at his home.
Following the discovery of the body, a brief manhunt ensued as investigators worked to locate the individual responsible for the shooting. The search quickly focused on a specific suspect, identified as 36-year-old Kyle Brandon Ruddell. Law enforcement officers successfully tracked him down and took him into custody shortly after the incident. He was subsequently transported to the Pope County Detention Center, where he was booked in connection with the homicide.
