In the small community of Star City, Arkansas, the life of 27-year-old Todd Johnson was tragically cut short on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. A White male, Johnson was a 2008 graduate of Star City High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Remembered for his ever-present smile, he was a welder by trade for Piping Industrial Company. He was married and was expecting his first child.
On that Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 4:20 p.m., deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office
were dispatched to the 1000 block of Greystone Lane following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Todd Johnson in the front yard of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Johnson's death led authorities to a suspect. Mark Harris, a 55-year-old resident of Star City, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. Following his arrest, Harris was held at the Lincoln County Jail as he awaited formal charges. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man known as a beloved friend and family man, who was an avid hunter and fisherman.
