In the autumn of 2017, the life of Harold Miller Jr., a 54-year-old man from Monticello, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at approximately 12:25 PM, a shooting incident was reported at a location known as McCray's garage on West Shelton Street. When Monticello Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Miller deceased. The investigation into his death was soon taken over by Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.
The subsequent investigation led to the swift arrest of a suspect, 55-year-old Arnold LaRon White Sr., also a resident of Monticello. Initial reports indicated that White was taken into custody and held at the Drew County Detention Center on a manslaughter charge in connection with Miller's death. Details that emerged during legal proceedings painted a clearer picture of the events that transpired. It was revealed the shooting occurred after a dispute over a $20 drug transaction. White had purchased drugs from Miller and was reportedly dissatisfied with the quantity or quality of the items he received.
