In the early afternoon of March 14, 2018, the life of 37-year-old Lonnie Urquhart Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire at an apartment complex in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The male victim was discovered by police responding to a shooting call at 2920 S. Fir Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Before he died, Urquhart was able to identify the man who shot him.
His account was corroborated by another witness at the scene, leading investigators to name 26-year-old Marquanthony Sullivan as the primary suspect in the homicide. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Sullivan, but he managed to evade capture for several months.
The search for Sullivan crossed state lines, culminating in his arrest by U.S. Marshals in Missouri in December of that year. Following his capture, he awaited extradition back to Arkansas to face charges for the murder of Lonnie Urquhart Jr. While the motive for the shooting was reported to be under investigation, the positive identification by both the victim and a witness provided a clear path for legal proceedings to begin.
