On September 26, 2018, DeAndra Lamond Arnold, a 39-year-old father from Poplar Grove, Arkansas, was fatally shot outside his home in what authorities believe was an attempted robbery. The incident occurred on County Road 113, approximately 20 minutes outside of Helena-West Helena. Witnesses reported seeing two men arrive at Arnold's residence; one exited the vehicle and began shooting at Arnold, who was struck by multiple bullets.
Neighbors attempted to administer CPR and applied pressure to one of the gunshot wounds until emergency services arrived.
Following the shooting, the assailant fled the scene on foot. A neighbor, Eva Henderson, reported that the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Jaucorian Davis, sought refuge in her home, asking for assistance and a ride. Henderson, feeling threatened, provided Davis with her cell phone and car keys, instructing him to leave her residence. Davis then fled in Henderson's vehicle.
Law enforcement authorities later located the stolen vehicle and apprehended Davis after a brief pursuit that ended in a crash. He was arrested and charged in connection with the murder of DeAndra Arnold. Investigators continued to search for a second suspect, the driver of the vehicle Davis was initially in, but did not release further details about this individual.
DeAndra Arnold was remembered by family and friends as a beloved father and community member. His funeral services were held on October 6, 2018, at Fountain Head Missionary Baptist Church in Marvell, Arkansas.
