Summary based on 5 sources
On a tragic day in August 2019, 37-year-old Melinda Coburn was killed in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Her life was cut short when she was found shot to death, her body left under a blanket in her own front yard on August 24th. The devastating event unfolded in the Dixie community, where deputies responded to calls of shots fired that evening.

The investigation quickly zeroed in on a suspect: Melinda's estranged husband, Marco Deshon Clark. The case took a bizarre and chilling turn when Clark, following the murder, took to social media, posting a Facebook video where he seemingly confessed to the crime. In the video, he appeared almost gleeful and even spoke of seeking another victim. This digital confession became a key piece of evidence for prosecutors. In the days leading up to her death, Melinda had sought protection from Clark, and a protective order had been granted just a week before she was killed.

A manhunt for Clark ensued, but he ultimately turned himself in to the authorities. Faced with overwhelming evidence, including his own social media broadcast, Clark pleaded guilty to capital murder right before his trial was set to begin in June 2021. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, in a final twist to this tragic story, Marco Clark, at the age of 37, died in the Craighead County jail just days after his sentencing. He was found unconscious in his cell after complaining of stomach pains and passed away at a local hospital. His body was sent to the state Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.
