On January 13, 2020, 33-year-old Michael Dewayne Nix, a male, lost his life in a fatal shooting in Paragould, Arkansas. The incident occurred at a residence located at 322 Greene County Road 702. An investigation into his death was launched by the Arkansas State Police.
According to witness accounts from the subsequent legal proceedings, the events leading to Nix's death involved a confrontation with 56-year-old Kevin Dale Brady.
Witnesses testified that Brady first sprayed Nix and another individual with wasp spray before discharging a handgun twice. The second of these shots struck Michael Dewayne Nix, inflicting the fatal wound. His body was discovered at the residence by a special agent with the Arkansas State Police.
Following an investigation by the Arkansas State Police and the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Kevin Dale Brady was arrested and charged in connection with Nix's death. After a three-day trial in November 2021, a Greene County jury found Brady guilty of first-degree murder. The jury recommended a sentence of 55 years of imprisonment, which was subsequently imposed by the circuit judge.
Michael Dewayne Nix was born on August 20, 1986, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He worked as a self-employed mechanic and also ran a lawn care service. He was known for his enjoyment of working on cars and his sense of humor. He was a father to six children. His family, including his mother and several siblings, survived him. His funeral service was held on January 21, 2020, followed by his interment at Pine Log Cemetery.
