In the summer of 2020, a fifty-year-old Hispanic female named Diana Gabriela Alamilla was found deceased in Hot Springs, Arkansas. On the evening of July 11, officers with the Hot Springs Police Department arrived at an apartment in the 300 block of Laser Street to conduct a welfare check. Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of Diana inside her residence.
It was later determined by investigators that her body had been there for a minimum of three days before being found.
The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory concluded that Alamilla’s death was a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound to her chest. The circumstances surrounding her death were unsettling, as her daughter recounted that the door to the apartment had been left wide open. Despite the cause of death, neighbors in the vicinity did not report hearing any gunshots during the time she was believed to have been killed, adding a layer of mystery to the investigation.
In the months that followed, the Hot Springs Police Department continued to investigate the homicide, but no arrests were made, and no suspects were publicly identified. Alamilla’s family, particularly her daughter Juliana Falcon, pleaded with the public for any information that could lead to solving the case. The family expressed the deep emotional pain of her unsolved murder, a sentiment that was especially poignant during the holiday season and on what would have been Diana's birthday. The investigation into her death remains open, with both law enforcement and her loved ones seeking answers and justice.
