In the autumn of 2020, a family visit turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. Eight-year-old Keishun Hollis, a young male from Olive Branch, Mississippi, was in town visiting relatives on Saturday, October 17th. That evening, a domestic dispute erupted between his aunt and her boyfriend, a man identified as Hector Lopez.
The argument escalated, prompting the aunt to attempt to leave the situation with Keishun in her vehicle.
As she tried to drive away from the heated conflict, Lopez allegedly opened fire on the car. A bullet struck young Keishun, inflicting a fatal wound. The boy's life was cut short in a senseless act of violence that stemmed from a domestic altercation he was merely a bystander to. The authorities were called, and an investigation into the shooting immediately began.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Hector Lopez fled the scene. However, law enforcement was able to locate and apprehend him early the following morning. Lopez was taken into custody and subsequently faced a series of grave charges for his alleged actions. These charges included capital murder, second-degree domestic battery, and aggravated assault, reflecting the severity of the crime that took the life of an innocent child.
