On a December evening in Magazine, Arkansas, a dispute between two men sharing a residence escalated with fatal consequences. Rodney Wayne Canada, a 40-year-old white male, was shot and killed on December 3, 2020, at a home located off State Highway 10. The incident cut short the life of a man known as a welder who found joy in coon hunting, fishing, and the quiet moments of the outdoors.
That evening, a heated argument erupted between Canada and 50-year-old Kevin D.
Hall, who also lived at the residence. The verbal confrontation took a tragic turn when Hall allegedly armed himself with a shotgun and fired at Canada. When the Magazine police chief and Logan County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, they found Canada with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was still alive, and emergency medical personnel quickly began transport to Mercy Hospital in nearby Booneville. Despite their efforts, Rodney Canada succumbed to his injury during the ambulance ride.
Investigators from the Logan County Sheriff's Office processed the scene and interviewed witnesses who were present during the altercation. Their investigation pointed to the argument as the catalyst for the shooting. Kevin D. Hall was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He was subsequently booked into the Logan County Detention Center on a homicide charge. The investigation continued with the Logan County Coroner arranging for Canada's body to be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
