Detective Samuel S. Drummy, aged 51, was a dedicated member of the Omaha Police Department in Nebraska. He joined the force in 1888 and was promoted to detective in 1899. On February 15, 1908, Detective Drummy and a South Omaha detective were on a mission to apprehend a suspect wanted for the shooting of another Omaha police officer and for robbery. Their investigation led them to a known hangout at 2607 N Street in South Omaha, where they located the suspect around 6:05 pm.
