Paul Riederer, a 74-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, was tragically killed on August 20, 2013. He was fatally stabbed following a confrontation with Cedric Hatten, a 21-year-old man who was reportedly harassing a woman for money. Riederer intervened, which led to the violent attack that resulted in his death. After his arrest, Hatten pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime.
