On the last day of 1993, a tragic event unfolded in a modest farmhouse in rural Humboldt, Nebraska, forever altering the lives of several families. Phillip Elliott Devine, a 22-year-old Black male, was found shot to death, one of three victims in a brutal triple homicide. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Devine had been living in Iowa and was visiting Nebraska.
