On a summer day in 1994, Joseph 'Joe' Babcock, a 47-year-old male, and his wife became victims of a brutal crime near their home east of Kingman, Arizona, in Mohave County. The couple, in an act of kindness, had stopped to help two men whose vehicle was stuck in the sand. This gesture of goodwill turned tragic when the two men murdered both Joseph and his 38-year-old wife, Charlene.
The assailants, later identified as Allen L. Nicklasson and Dennis J.
Skillicorn, did not stop with the murders of the Babcocks. After killing the couple, they stole their pickup truck and continued on a crime spree that spanned across three states and into Mexico, leaving a trail of violence and additional victims in their wake. Their violent rampage ultimately led to the deaths of six people in total.
Following an extensive manhunt, Nicklasson and Skillicorn were apprehended. They faced justice for their horrific crimes and were tried and convicted. For the murders of Joseph and Charlene Babcock in Arizona, both men received life sentences. However, their reign of terror had extended to Missouri, where they were also convicted for the murder of Richard Drummond. For this crime, both Nicklasson and Skillicorn were sentenced to death and were subsequently executed in Missouri.
