The tragedy began when 73-year-old Carey Hal Dyess embarked on a shooting spree that authorities believe was fueled by resentment stemming from his 2006 divorce.
The day of the attacks started when Dyess first went to the home of his ex-wife's best friend, where he shot and wounded her.
From there, he proceeded to other locations, his path marked by a string of fatal encounters. Among his victims were his ex-wife, Theresa Lorraine Sigurdson, and her friends, Henry Scott Finney and his wife, Norene. Another acquaintance of his ex-wife was also killed during the rampage.
The trail of violence extended to the nearby city of Yuma, where Dyess shot and killed the attorney who had represented his ex-wife during their divorce proceedings.
