On December 2, 2024, The Colony Police Department conducted a welfare check at the Estancia at Morningstar Apartments, located at 6399 Morning Star Drive in The Colony, Texas. This action was prompted by an employer's concern after being unable to contact an employee for several days. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered the bodies of 43-year-old Kristi Lee Duffy and 45-year-old Kevin Ray Duffy, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
