On December 17, 2024, 17-year-old Armoni Joseph Cantu of Erie, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot near the intersection of West 31st and Liberty Streets. The incident, occurring around 4 p.m., also left another 17-year-old male critically injured with a gunshot wound to the face. Both victims were transported to Saint Vincent Hospital, where Cantu was pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m.
