On December 5, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Akron police responded to reports of a shooting at the Colonial Hills apartment complex on Colonial Hills Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Eric W. Jones Jr. lying in the kitchen with an apparent gunshot wound. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene at 7:05 p.m.
