On November 27, 2024, at approximately 10:43 p.m., Durham police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of East Lawson Street, near the McDougald Terrace Public Housing Complex. Upon arrival, officers discovered 45-year-old Lamarcus Dion Alston suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
