Alonni Barfield, 6, a Black/African American girl, was at home in North Omaha on the afternoon of December 15, 2024, when she suffered a gunshot wound inside a residence near 32nd Street and Redick Avenue. First responders found her critically injured around 4 p.m. and rushed her to Nebraska Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Investigators and the Douglas County Attorney said preliminary autopsy findings showed she was shot in the head. Police described the shoo ...
