In the early evening of December 15, 2024, the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 21-year-old Nathan Coleman Jr., a Black male. The incident unfolded around 7 p.m. in the 6100 block of Franklin Avenue, outside the Franklin Discount store. A suspect opened fire into a parking lot, resulting in a quadruple shooting. Coleman was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
