On December 18, 2024, the body of 18-year-old Ja'Morius Mitchell was discovered in a sugarcane field in Addis, Louisiana. Mitchell had been reported missing on December 12, 2024, and his remains were found six days later. The West Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office confirmed his identity and determined that he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
