In the quiet town of Quitman, Georgia, a domestic tragedy unfolded on November 29, 2024, ending the lives of a mother and her daughter. Tiaja Mobley, a 25-year-old female, was fatally shot inside her home on Shiver Lane. Also killed in the incident was her mother, 48-year-old Tamiko Mobley.
The events leading to the fatal encounter began the night before, following an argument between Tamiko Mobley and her husband, Wilbert Mobley, Jr. As a result, Tamiko had sought refuge at her daughter Tiaja's residence. The following morning, around 9:40 a.m., the Brooks County Sheriff's Office received a call and responded to the Shiver Lane home, where they discovered the bodies of the two women.
A man was also present at the scene and sustained non-fatal injuries after being shot at and hit by debris. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist in the double homicide investigation.
Outside the home, officers with the Quitman Police Department arrested 44-year-old Wilbert Mobley, Jr., the husband of Tamiko and father of Tiaja. He was subsequently charged with two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Wilbert Mobley, Jr. was then booked into the Brooks County Jail. The case remains under active investigation, and the bodies of both victims were sent to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.
