On the morning of December 18, 2024, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Columbus Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Celia Drive in Columbus, Georgia. Upon arrival, they discovered 15-year-old Elijah Hatcher suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported Hatcher to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m.
