On December 2, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at 16045 Nasturtium Drive in Punta Gorda, Florida. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 63-year-old Denis "Doc" Patrick Carmody deceased in front of his residence, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
