In the early hours of January 6, 2023, the Tulia Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Tommie Montray Thornton, a resident of Tulia, Texas, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by both the officers and EMS personnel, Thornton was pronounced dead at the scene.
