In the early hours of January 6, 2023, the Tulia Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Tommie Montray Thornton, a resident of Tulia, Texas, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by both the officers and EMS personnel, Thornton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Tulia police identified a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. The department collaborated with the Texas Rangers to further the investigation. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been reported, and the case remains under active investigation.
