On January 11, 2023, 43-year-old Cory Johnson was found with multiple gunshot wounds in his apartment on Eagle Drive in Denton, Texas. Responding to a 911 call about possible gunfire around 10:30 p.m., Denton police officers discovered Johnson's apartment door slightly ajar and heard him calling for help. Despite being able to speak briefly with first responders, Johnson was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead later that night.
