On January 18, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., Ellis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 600 block of Bunkhouse Road in Venus, Texas. The incident involved an argument between two adult males, culminating in one individual shooting the other. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Roy Eugene Vaughn III, received immediate medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
