On April 28, 2023, in Cleveland, Texas, 18-year-old Jose Jonathan Casarez was among five individuals fatally shot in a tragic incident. The perpetrator, identified as 38-year-old Francisco Oropeza, allegedly opened fire on his neighbors after they requested he cease shooting his AR-15 rifle in his yard, as it was disturbing a sleeping baby.
