On May 9, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Forest Sounds Lane in Porter, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 65-year-old Carol Kuykendall deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation quickly identified Carol's son, 37-year-old Michael Scott Kuykendall, as the primary suspect. He was arrested and charged with her murder, subsequently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
