On May 9, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Forest Sounds Lane in Porter, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 65-year-old Carol Kuykendall deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation quickly identified Carol's son, 37-year-old Michael Scott Kuykendall, as the primary suspect. He was arrested and charged with her murder, subsequently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Michael Kuykendall has a documented history of criminal activity, including multiple arrests for assault, family violence, and substance abuse violations in both Montgomery and Harris Counties. Notably, in 2017, he was arrested for assaulting his wife and later violated probation terms by testing positive for methamphetamine. His criminal record also includes charges of intoxication assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and arson.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the motive behind the fatal shooting of Carol Kuykendall. The case remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes detectives.
