On June 6, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in El Paso, Texas, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Marcos "Pumba" Fino Jr. The events began when 53-year-old Raul Alberto Orozco observed a Chrysler 300, which he believed had previously damaged his mailbox, passing by his residence multiple times. Suspecting the vehicle's involvement in the earlier incident, Orozco decided to follow it onto Doniphan Drive to obtain its license plate number.
During the pursuit, Orozco contacted his sons, 28-year-old Jose Alberto Orozco and 21-year-old Cristian Bradley Orozco, informing them of the situation. As the vehicles traveled along Doniphan Drive, the Chrysler reportedly braked abruptly, leading to a collision where Orozco's truck struck the rear of Fino's vehicle. Subsequently, Fino exited his car to confront Orozco. At this juncture, Jose and Cristian arrived and positioned their vehicle in front of Fino's car, effectively blocking it.
A verbal confrontation ensued between the Orozcos, Fino, and a male passenger accompanying Fino. The altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which Jose Orozco drew a handgun. In the struggle that followed, the firearm discharged, fatally wounding Fino. The Orozco family fled the scene and later contacted law enforcement from a different location. Fino's passenger attempted to drive him to seek medical attention but eventually flagged down a police unit on Doniphan Drive. Despite these efforts, Fino succumbed to his injuries.
The following morning, Raul, Jose, and Cristian Orozco were arrested and charged with murder. They were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, with bonds set at $500,000 for Raul and Cristian, and $1 million for Jose, who was identified as the individual who fired the fatal shot.
In the aftermath of the incident, neighbors expressed shock, describing the Orozco family as hardworking and decent individuals. One neighbor noted, "They are decent people, good people, hardworking, honest. Cristian is a gentle soul. I’m just at a loss for words, and I really can’t believe this happened."
Marcos "Pumba" Fino Jr. was remembered as a devoted father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend. He is survived by his parents, Marcos Fino and Normalinda Marquez; his children, Johnathan Joseph Fino, Daniel David Fino, Mariyah Fino, and Yazsleyn Leahnia Fino; and his brothers, Sonny Rae Fino and Isaac Marc Fino. Funeral services were held to honor his memory.
