On June 27, 2023, at approximately 6 a.m., El Paso police responded to a call on the 5600 block of Prince Edward Avenue in Northeast El Paso, where they discovered 40-year-old Daniela Courtney Woodworth with severe injuries. She was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Woodworth succumbed to her injuries on July 24, 2023.
Woodworth's family revealed that she had been in an on-again, off-again relationship, which they described as abusive.
Family members recounted multiple instances where Woodworth expressed a desire to leave, citing abuse and fear for her safety. Despite these concerns, she did not file police reports or seek restraining orders, possibly due to fear of retaliation. Tragically, it was her seven-year-old daughter who found her unresponsive on the morning of June 27.
Following her death, the El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons detectives initiated a murder investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police have not publicly identified any suspects. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the police non-emergency line or Crime Stoppers of El Paso.
Woodworth was a mother of four, leaving behind three sons and a daughter. Her family held a memorial service on August 2, 2023, to honor her memory. They continue to seek justice for Daniela and have called upon the community to speak out against domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of seeking help in abusive situations.
