On September 2, 2023, 40-year-old Juan Alvarez from La Marque, Texas, was found deceased on the shoulder of the Highway 146 southbound feeder road in Texas City. Responding to reports of gunfire around 4:42 p.m., officers discovered Alvarez's body partially in a traffic lane. He was transported to HCA Mainland Center Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
