On September 11, 2023, in Houston, Texas, 34-year-old Derrell Rafael Quinney was fatally shot in the Sunnyside neighborhood. Houston Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Grassmere Street near Scott Street. Upon arrival, they found Quinney unresponsive with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
