On December 5, 2023, Katherine Short, 56, and her daughter, Lauren Short, 30, were tragically killed in their Austin, Texas, home during a violent crime spree. The incident began when Katherine's husband observed, via a live security feed, a man forcefully entering their residence on Austral Loop. He immediately contacted 911, reporting that his wife and daughter were inside the home.
