On December 9, 2023, the body of 51-year-old Pete Gonzales Eguia was discovered in a wooded area off Escondido Road near Helotes, Texas. A passerby noticed a discarded shoe on the roadside and, upon investigating, found Eguia's body, which exhibited signs of slight decomposition and evidence of dragging. The Bexar County Medical Examiner determined that Eguia had died from multiple gunshot wounds, leading the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) to investigate the case as a homicide.
