On December 17, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in Forney, Texas, resulting in the deaths of 17-year-old Andrew Luis Chazarreta and 30-year-old Jessica Campos. Around 10:30 p.m., Forney police responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Mandarin Street, where they discovered Campos deceased in her garage from gunshot wounds. Evidence at the scene suggested that the shooter had fled after sustaining injuries.
Approximately an hour later, Arlington police were alerted to an unresponsive individual in the parking lot of a 24-hour emergency facility on Cooper Street. Upon arrival, they found Chazarreta with a fatal gunshot wound. Through collaborative efforts, Forney and Arlington investigators connected the two incidents, determining that Chazarreta was the assailant responsible for Campos's death. It is believed that an altercation between Campos and Chazarreta escalated, leading to both sustaining fatal injuries.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a second suspect, 23-year-old Theodore Tommy-Alemenar Garcia from Crowley, Texas. On February 17, 2024, Garcia was charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Campos and Chazarreta. Forney Police Chief Carrie White commended the detectives for their diligent work across multiple jurisdictions to bring the suspect to justice. Authorities have stated that no additional suspects are being sought in this case.
