On February 18, 2024, the Breckenridge Police Department responded to a medical call involving a gunshot wound at a residence in the 400 block of North Parks Street. Upon arrival, officers were met by a man who reported that his daughter was deceased in the backyard. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Shalon Taylor Wilson, the director of the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center.
