On the evening of March 2, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Fort Worth police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2900 block of Crockett Street, situated within the city's popular West 7th entertainment district. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Bryson Rodgers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention and transportation to a nearby hospital, Rodgers succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed that Rodgers had been involved in an altercation with another individual, identified as 29-year-old Karlove Palmer. During the confrontation, Palmer allegedly brandished a firearm and discharged it multiple times at Rodgers before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.
In the days following the incident, Fort Worth police obtained a warrant for Palmer's arrest on charges of murder. On March 4, 2024, Palmer surrendered himself to authorities and was subsequently booked into the Tarrant County Jail. His bond was set at $300,000.
The tragic event prompted renewed concerns about safety within the West 7th entertainment district, an area that had experienced previous incidents of violence, including the fatal shooting of a Texas Christian University student in September 2023.
