On April 20, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, 52-year-old Byron Blackwell was fatally shot in the head at his residence on Northfork Road. The alleged shooter, 31-year-old Trace Hemphill, is the son of Blackwell's girlfriend. Hemphill had been previously asked to leave the home but returned that evening to do laundry.
