On April 22, 2024, Houston police discovered the body of 45-year-old Jennifer Ramirez in a shallow grave behind an apartment complex in the 11000 block of Fuqua Street. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined that she had died from a gunshot wound.

The investigation led authorities to Derek Fischer, 31, who was identified as Ramirez's boyfriend. Evidence and witness statements pointed to Fischer as the primary suspect. He was arrested on April 27, 2024, and charged ...
