On August 10, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., 18-year-old Jesus "Chuche" Ignacio Garcia of Port Arthur, Texas, was fatally shot at the Beverly Place Apartments in Groves. Responding officers found Garcia in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper torso; he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
