On September 8, 2024, 18-year-old Kaylee Lanay Merchant was fatally shot in Cleburne, Texas. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. in the 500 block of Poindexter Avenue. Merchant was a passenger in a white SUV when an altercation took place, leading to her being shot. She was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
