On September 15, 2024, 16-year-old Raul Gonzalez was fatally shot during a road rage incident in Haltom City, Texas. The altercation occurred between 4:15 and 4:45 a.m. near the 4400 block of East Belknap Road. Gonzalez was a passenger in a Chrysler 300 driven by his older brother when their vehicle pulled out in front of a black 1999 Honda Accord with a distinctive gray hood and front-right quarter panel.
Shortly thereafter, the Honda pulled alongside the Chrysler, and occupants of the Honda opened fire, striking Gonzalez. He was transported to a Fort Worth hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 25, 2024.
In the ensuing investigation, Haltom City police utilized surveillance footage and license plate recognition technology to identify the suspect vehicle. On November 8, 2024, 21-year-old Jasue "Josue" Moreno was arrested at his workplace, facing charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Subsequently, on November 12, 2024, 21-year-old Juan Perez was apprehended in Fort Worth, charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both suspects are believed to have fired into the victim's vehicle during the incident.
Investigators revealed that the suspects attempted to alter the appearance of their vehicle by bleaching and spray-painting it before abandoning it in the backyard of a vacant property in Fort Worth. Additionally, evidence was uncovered indicating that the suspects discussed the offense with others and posted about it on social media platforms. Authorities believe that at least two other individuals were present in the Honda Accord at the time of the shooting and are actively seeking information to identify and apprehend them.
