On October 5, 2024, in Bruceville-Eddy, Texas, 38-year-old Michael Morris and his 18-year-old son, Braxton Johnson, were fatally shot. The incident stemmed from an ongoing feud between Morris and 32-year-old Romi Frentescu, a member of the Cossacks Motorcycle Club. According to reports, the confrontation escalated when Morris allegedly made an obscene gesture toward Frentescu, who then followed Morris to his residence.
A physical altercation ensued, during which Frentescu claimed to have acted in self-defense by firing multiple shots at Morris and Johnson.
Witnesses at the scene provided accounts that contradicted Frentescu's self-defense claim. A passing nurse attempted to administer CPR to Morris; however, Frentescu, wearing his motorcycle club vest, reportedly demanded she cease her efforts, expressing a desire for Morris to die. Emergency responders pronounced Morris dead at the scene, while Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement swiftly apprehended Frentescu, charging him with two counts of capital murder. He was detained at the McLennan County Jail with a bond set at $1 million. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Frentescu's girlfriend, 30-year-old Alyssa Marleen Sevilla, who was accused of driving the getaway vehicle and returning to the scene shortly after the shooting. Sevilla faced charges of capital murder, with her bond set at $500,000.
