On the night of October 19, 2024, 60-year-old Patrick Morgan of Mansfield, Texas, was fatally shot while waiting in a parked car in Fort Worth. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Miller Avenue and Richardson Street, near Lulu's Lounge. Morgan had accompanied another individual to the location to order food; while he remained in the vehicle, the other person went to retrieve the order. Upon returning, the companion discovered Morgan with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Fort Worth Police Department spokesperson Officer Bradley Perez indicated that the shots appeared to be deliberately aimed at the vehicle, suggesting that Morgan was not a victim of random crossfire. Investigators have been working closely with the individual who accompanied Morgan that evening to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities have been canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing potential surveillance footage to identify any suspects involved in the homicide.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Police have not determined whether the attack was targeted or random. Morgan's wife described him as a "gentle husband, father, son, neighbor, coworker, brother, and friend" who avoided conflict and was simply waiting for his favorite food, catfish, at the time of his death. The Fort Worth Police Department continues to urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
