On October 20, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Levelland Police Department officers responded to a report of a man lying in the roadway in the 1700 block of Wilson Street in Levelland, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Gregorio Nathaniel "Nate" Mendieta IV unresponsive and face down, having suffered a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
