On February 26, 2023, at approximately 6:22 p.m., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 38000 block of Via Majorca in La Cresta, an unincorporated community near Murrieta, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Andrew Cisneros suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by deputies and paramedics, Cisneros was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation, identifying at least two suspects who had fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Over the following weeks, four individuals were arrested in connection with the homicide:
- **March 5, 2023**: Jose Daniel Aguilar, 29, of Orange, was apprehended during a traffic stop in Moreno Valley.
- **March 10, 2023**: Enrique Rojas Jr., 37, of Murrieta, was arrested near his residence, and Richard Charlie Smith, 23, of Hemet, was detained during a traffic stop in Hemet.
- **March 13, 2023**: Manuel Luna Rico, 37, of Perris, was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Perris.
All four suspects were charged with first-degree murder, robbery, and burglary, with additional special circumstance allegations of committing murder during a burglary and robbery. They were held without bail pending arraignment.
According to investigators, the suspects allegedly broke into Cisneros' residence, leading to a confrontation during which Cisneros was fatally shot. The relationship between the victim and the suspects, as well as the motive for the crime, were not disclosed. The investigation remained ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
