On March 22, 2023, at approximately 2:34 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 700 block of West Owen Court in Altadena, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Daniel "Danny" Anthony Ursitti with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The residence where the incident occurred is a two-story home located on a hilltop within the gated La Viña community. The property previously belonged jointly to Ursitti's parents before their divorce.
During the initial investigation, deputies found two men and a woman inside the residence who were unharmed. However, no further information about these individuals or their connection to the incident has been released.
As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with Ursitti's death. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest. Ursitti was born on June 26, 1995, in Santa Monica, California, to Rick and Laura Ursitti. He attended Holy Family Catholic School in South Pasadena and graduated with honors from St. Francis High School in La Cañada. An accomplished athlete, he participated in soccer, Little League, basketball, and flag football, and was a member of the St. Francis football team throughout high school. Additionally, Ursitti was an Eagle Scout, completing a project to reconstruct the South Pasadena Rose Parade Kiosk. He had a passion for music, teaching himself to play the ukulele, and later developed his artistic talents through detailed pencil sketches.
The investigation into Ursitti's death remains ongoing. Authorities continue to seek information from the public to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
